Kohler Care, Inc.

Quality child care isn't expensive, it's priceless.

Education

At Kohler Care, Inc. education is very important.  I am not just talking about the school aged kids either.  Toddlers and preschoolers a large part of the program here.

Toddlers are encouraged to explore their world mostly through play and games.  Once they reach age 2 they are fully involved in our Circle Time and Project Time.  They will begin to learn color recognition, basic counting, ABC's, nursery rhymes, and much more!

Preschooler's activities are a bit more sophisticated and supplements what they are learning in their preschools.  Each week the children will be encouraged to write the letter of the week.  Trips and outings may be planned to coordinate with the week's theme.  Beyond that they will discover local geography (state, town, and county), phone numbers, and addresses.

Grade schoolers are given time and help with school work throughout the school year.  Over breaks they have age appropriate work books of their own to be completed while Circle Time is happening with the smaller kids.

Meals

Meals at Kohler Care, Inc. are included in your weekly tuition.  I serve three well balanced and healthy meals.

  • Breakfast  7:30am ~ Includes Grain, Fruit, and 2% Milk
  • Lunch 12:00pm~ Includes Meat, Grain, Fruit, Vegetable, and 2% Milk
  • PM Snack 3:00pm  (for all day children) OR 4:00pm (for after school children)  ~  Includes 2 of the following: Grain, Meat, 2% Milk, Fruit, or Vegetable
  • Kohler Care participates in the USDA food program to combat childhood obesity.  During the course of the year I will be spot checked by my local representative to guarantee the menus I claim to serve are accurate and meet all the requirements.

Since Kohler Care is a home daycare children are also fully encouraged to participate in any meal preparation (when safety permits), assist in setting the table, and expected to help clear the table of their own dishes at the end of the meal.

Note: Please make sure to notify Stephanie of any food allergies!

Activities

The USDA food program isn't only about healty eating.  It is also about play and exercise.  We spend at least 30 minutes (weather permitting) outside.  Generally the outside time is free play, but we have constructed obsticle courses, held races, gone to neighborhood parks, and in the summer months we have sprinkler days.

We also have structured play.  This can involve games like Simon Says, Duck-Duck-Goose, color hunts, Follow the Leader, or Musical Chairs.

Hygiene

Following all meals and snacks all ages will brush their teeth with soft bristled brushes supplied by Kohler Care, Inc.  If they are too young to rinse and spit I do provide non flouride tooth paste as well.

Handwashing is a very important life skill that is expected after playing outside, blowing noses, coughing, touching animals, before & after meals, and after using the bathroom.  Any germs that can be washed away will.  I hope this practice is as encouraged at home as well to help keep Kohler Care, Inc. a well childcare facility.

Transportation

Transportation will be provided to preschoolers enrolled in the Romeoville Rec. Center preschool program on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.   All children in attendance will come with us.

Occasionally Stephanie will also take the kids to a local store, restaurant, or park.

All travel takes place in my 2008 Nissan Quest with front and head curtain airbags for all 3 rows, ABS, traction control, and 5 star crash test rating (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety-IIHS).  I do have a number of front facing car seats and booster seats to safely accomodate children under 4'9" and 80 lbs.  If Kohler Care, Inc. does not have the proper safety seat for your child I will ask you to provide one.

Naps

All children under the age of 5 will have their own cot for nap or quiet time.  I have linens here but ask that you supply a pillow and/or a "lovey" for your little ones.  Nap time follows lunch and teeth brushing daily and can last an hour and a half to two and a half hours, depending on the group.  In order to relax the kiddos I will put soothing music on, Moodscapes 928 (on Dish Network).

Any older children that no longer require periods of rest are encouraged to find a quiet activity.  This can be reading, watching TV, or playing their own hand held video games.  This is the only time throughout the day that I permit the use of video games!  Children are NOT expected to share these expensive toys.

Communication

Communication between parents and their daycare provider is key to a successful relationship and can only benefit the child.  This is why every day I email summary reports of the days activities, meals, diaper changes, nap times, and any occurances that may have taken place.  At the start of evey month parents will also receive the Kohler Care, Inc. Monthly E-Newsletter.  With this parents are reminded of any upcoming holidays, informed of any planned field trips, updated on progress of themes, and includes everyone's favorite: "Green Facts" section!

I fully encourage parents to call throughout the day to speak with their children whether it be to check in or check up on!  Parent drop-ins/early pick-ups are also welcome and encouraged, I only ask that you avoid nap times.

For billing purposes I also do a lot of communicating via email.

Payments

Tuition fees are due on Friday for the following week.  This holds your childs spot, enables me to purchase the groceries needed for the upcoming week's meals, and prepare all crafts & projects.  In the event payment is not received on Friday late fees will apply and your childs spot at Kohler Care, Inc. may be forfeited.

Prior to your child's first date of enrollment a one time registration fee of $40 will be due along with all completed paperwork and the following week's tuition.

Naturally I accept cash and check for the weekly tuition.  However, I can also set families up for direct deposit.  None of your account information is available to me.  I use a service called Child Care Pay for your convenience, if you choose.  We can set up your account and payments can be made automatically or I can invoice you weekly and you can make payments with a simple click!
